Children and families seek out and return to Childhood Apraxia & Speech Therapy Centre because of the high level of knowledge and training we provide them through assessment, therapy, consultation and teaching. Personalized service, commitment to excellence, and clinical experience sets us apart. Children and their families will see development in their communication skills quickly and with augmented support where needed (e.g. non-verbal communication strategies such as technology).
We are proud to offer the following services at Childhood Apraxia & Speech Therapy Centre:
Assessment for identified or suspected Motor Speech or Childhood Apraxia of Speech (CAS) concerns, as well as some general speech-language concerns (e.g. articulation, phonology, augmentative and alternative communication, social skills/pragmatics). Assessment sessions are typically 2 hour in length; please contact us to discuss your concerns and we can offer an estimated length and cost for individualized assessment for you.
Treatment/Therapy for identified areas of need within speech-languagedomains including Childhood Apraxia of Speech, suspected Childhood Apraxia of Speech, Motor Speech disorders, receptive or expressive language delays/disorders, alternative and augmentative communication, social skills/pragmatics. We also offer an auditory-verbal therapy approach to speech and language development for children with permanent hearing loss.. Therapy sessions are available in various session lengths, with 5-10 minutes reserved for charting and clean-up. Intensive therapy services for those travelling from out of the area are also available.
Consultation services (e.g. with families/clients, other professionals, schools) are available for all clients, especially those with suspected or identified Motor Speech Disorder or Childhood Apraxia of Speech. Families and/or professionals looking for advocacy or supports around diagnosis are welcome to visit Childhood Apraxia & Speech Therapy Centre for resources and/or clinical support. We have worked with many families from outside Wellington County and look forward to supporting others across Ontario and beyond.
Phone & Email Communication is available at no cost. Please allow us 48 business hours to respond. When needed, we are happy to schedule time for more detailed communication outside of your child’s therapy session. Every effort is made to support families and busy schedules.
Off-site clinical services (e.g. school meetings, school-based therapy and support, home-based therapy) are available in person and by telehealth when appropriate. Please contact us for more information.
Written documentation (e.g. assessment reports, school letters, therapy summaries, diagnosis support reports) is available after any assessment, consultation or therapy session(s) upon request.
Camps/Group Intensive Therapy services are available to clients with suspected or identified Childhood Apraxia of Speech. Please click here for more information.
Workshops & Trainings specific to Motor Speech Disorders, Childhood Apraxia of Speech, and Developmental Speech Disorders are available through the Childhood Apraxia & Speech Therapy Centre. Professional Consultation & Observation are available to Speech-Language Pathologist who wish to further their own professional development in the area of Childhood Apraxia of Speech and Motor Speech Disorders. We consider ourselves a training facility and have a open-door policy for increasing apraxia awareness and best practice. We are also proud to offer the Childhood Apraxia of Speech Resource Centre, where families and professionals can access current materials and resources. We offer resources that are intended to be used on-site as well as some materials that may be lent out for short periods of time, with a small refundable deposit.
